Target Audience:

Any school staff member who will be involved in the support process for a student with selective mutism. Frequent staff members for this role include; special educators, case managers, speech language pathologists, SLAs, school counselors, school social workers, and school psychologists. This is a helpful training for staff who have taken a previous training as well as staff who are new to the “brave voice journey”.

Overview:

This dynamic training co-led by Dr. Elizabeth Doppler-Bourassa Ph.D. and Annie DiVello M.S.,CCC-SLP;M.Ed., provides school teams with a how-to guide for the interventions & collaboration between the “brave voice teacher” & the “feelings teacher” for students with SM. Attendees will be offered specific strategies for helping students find their brave voices and manage their worries at school.

There is a section in the registration process for you to let me know of any special needs or accommodations that you may require. Please feel free to reach out to me before registering if you have any questions regarding this. At least two weeks notice prior to a scheduled event is needed for special accommodations. All requests will be thoroughly considered and met if at all possible.

Learner Objectives:

  • Write one goal the “brave voice teacher” might target
  • Write one goal the “feelings teacher” might target
  • Explain the need for collaboration between the “brave voice teacher” and “feelings teacher”
  • List three ways to move beyond stuck points in the process

Successful completion of these outcomes will be determined via a four question self-assessment. 

Continuing Education Information:

In order to earn a certificate of completion, learners will be expected to;

  • be present for the entire presentation
    • remain on live video
    • sign in and out via the chat box
    • answer a four question self-assessment by 2/16/24
      • Partial credit is not available for this course
      • No credit is available for self-assessments submitted after 2/16/24

Presenter:

Annie DiVello M.S.,CCC-SLP; M.Ed.

Annie is a licensed and ASHA certified Speech-Language Pathologist. She is also one of 500 ASHA CEU providers around the world. Annie has lived and worked across the country in West Virginia, Georgia, South Central Los Angeles, and New England. Though she has worked with many populations, Annie’s particular area of clinical interest is selective mutism. She enjoys providing trainings for school teams across the nation on the topic of SM. In New England, Annie provides school-based selective mutism evaluations and works collaboratively with teams to build and implement integrated plans of support.  Annie is a Selective Mutism Association State Coordinator for NH, MA, & ME. She is passionate about her field and about helping individuals to find their voices. Annie feels the ability to communicate is a beautiful gift and the foundation of the human connection. Empowering school teams to bring their students’ brave voices to school is one of her greatest joys.

Dr. Elizabeth Doppler-Bourassa Ph.D.

Dr. Elizabeth Doppler-Bourassa, known to many as “Dr. Beth,” is a licensed clinical psychologist with more than 20 years of clinical and consultation experience. She has worked with individuals across the life span in a variety of settings including community mental health centers, public schools, residential treatment schools, and has been operating her private outpatient practice since 2015.  She enjoys working with individuals across the lifespan to navigate life’s challenges through play, storytelling, and humor from a strength based perspective.

I would be happy to offer you a different course free of charge and/or to meet with you 1:1 to talk through your concerns. Providing helpful and satisfactory trainings is of the utmost importance to me. If my training has not met your needs, please allow me the opportunity to ameliorate the situation.

Refund Policy:

If Annie DiVello Consulting LLC cancels a course due to extenuating circumstances, all registered attendees will be refunded fully within 15 days of the cancellation notice. If an attendee cancels their registration with at least 24 hours notice of a scheduled event, they will be refunded in full minus a $10.00 processing fee. Cancellations made with less than 24 hours notice from a scheduled event are non-refundable.
